WHO I AM
Hello! My name is Gwen and I’m a Singapore-based writer working to bring people together through riveting stories and memorable shared experiences.
My idea of a good time involves wandering up car parks and down back alleys in search of captivating shots (follow my adventures here), talking about feelings over copious cups of tea (I love Russian Caravan and my own blend of longjing and lavender), and cheering for the Mercedes Formula One team from my sofa (my favourite circuits are Suzuka, Interlagos, and Silverstone).
WHAT I DO
I fell in love with journalism when I founded my high school student magazine at the age of 15, and haven’t put my pen down since. As an award-winning writer and editor, I give voice to people and places to foster a sense of curiosity and understanding. I was a former section editor at Time Out Singapore, and I have written for publications including The Guardian (UK), The Standard (HK), and The Peak (SG).
I was also previously an arts manager at non-profit theatre development space Centre 42. There, I helped raise the profile of Singapore’s growing theatre industry by engaging artists, the media, and the public through various programmes and events, while nurturing a community of aspiring performing arts reviewers.
And as a marketer, I’ve worked with brands like T2 Tea to craft their stories and strengthen their relationship with customers by forging engaging content strategies, and creating effective omni-channel campaigns.
HOW I WORK
I approach projects with an open mind, empathy, and integrity. I prioritise ruthlessly to meet deadlines, and leave enough time to triple-check that every comma is in the right place. I am self-motivated but thrive when working as part of a team.
WHY I DO WHAT I DO
In an age where it’s so easy to be trapped in echo chambers, my mission is to work with communities and organisations to reach outside their own bubbles and into those of ‘the other’. I believe the way to do this is through excellent storytelling and moments of genuine connection. If this resonates with you, I’d love to chat!
